The Steelers defense has been a strong part of why the team is 7-5 and T.J. Watt has been a major contributor. #SteelersNation always knew what a solid player he is and now the NFL has recognised his part by honouring him with the AFC Defensive Player of the Month.
He has at least a half sack in nine consecutive games which is the longest active streak in the NFL and the longest for a Steeler since LaMarr Woodley had a 10-game sack streak spanning the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
With at least half a sack against Arizona Sunday, he will become the fifth player to have at least half a sack in 10 consecutive games since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic.
There are four games left for Watt to match or beat James Harrison’ record of 16 sacks in a season. He has managed five over the team’s last four games and needs four more to break the record.
