After the surprise defeat the previous week, the Passion immediately returned to their winning ways with victory over the Detroit Dark Angels clinching the NFC Central North Division.
Pittsburgh built on an early interception by taking a 7-0 lead with a 43-yard touchdown run by Tara Catone. In their next series, Angela Baker added a 12-yard touchdown catch to increase the Passion’s lead to 14-0.
Detroit took little time to hit back with a 59-yard touchdown run and a successful two-point conversion, but then the Passion took control. Before the first quarter had expired, Passion’s quarterback Lisa Horton found Peyton Hieb with a 30-yard touchdown pass.
The second quarter saw the Passion go into overdrive with first Baker returning a punt 41 yards for a score. Hieb added her second touchdown catch, this one a 34-yard completion, before the defense joined in with Hannah Daman returning her interception 40 yards for a touchdown. Horton and Baker again combined for a 33-yard touchdown completion that gave Pittsburgh a 49-8 halftime lead.
The Passion continued to dominate in the second half adding an 8-yard touchdown run from Janice Masters and finishing with a touchdown run of 4 yards from Laura Baden.
