I did suggest in my preview of Monday’s game that the return of Roosevelt Nix would help the Steelers running game and it certainly did. James Conner gained 145 yards rushing which was within a whisker of his career best.
I made him my Player of the Game and now the NFL has also recognised his contribution for the Steelers victory.
Conner brought the solid performance the Steelers needed to ensure they posted back to back wins and provide a lift to their season and for Steeler Nation.
Conner became stronger as the game went on providing seven first downs to keep the chains moving while his team recovered from going 14 points behind.
His career best of 146 rushing yards with two rushing touchdowns was complemented by 5 catches for 66 yards in week 8 last year. Those statistics brought some relief to a Pittsburgh that was struggling with the Tree of Life killings. They also ensured he took the AFC honours for the week.
